Sheridan offers a safe, that each childÕs individual talents are discovered, nurtured and challenged. We offer weekly computer lab instruction, a music program, Adventures in Music (AIM), and a cooperative physical education program that is held on a daily basis at Oceanview Playground with the assistance of its directors. Continuing this year is the Primary Intervention Program (PIP) for Kindergarten through 3rd grade students and the After School Learning Program that serves students kindergarten through 5th grade. This year the YMCA will operate the After School Program and will include computer lab, standards based tutoring and a Saturday swimming time.
Sheridan's staff is committed to its mission, which states, "Every student will develop to his/her fullest academic, physical, emotional, and ethical potential. The basic skills of speaking, reading, writing, math and computing will be developed through an academic emphasis in the subject areas. Critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, physical skills and self-confidence will expand from this base. To accomplish this, the full cooperation of the home will be actively solicited particularly in the areas of homework and daily school attendance. Learning will take place in a safe and encouraging environment with reasonable standards of discipline expected of all students. ÒSheridan students will excel.Ó
