KIPP Bay Academy is an innovative 5th through 8th grade public school that prepares its students for the best high schools and colleges in the nation. The school opened its doors in July 2003 with 75 fifth grade students and will add a grade each year until2006. The learning environment is rigorous and intensive. Students attend classes from being available in the evenings for homework help. Hard work, perseverance, and preparation will equip our students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to reach incredible heights.

We provide our students with a college preparatory curriculum. Step I (grades 5 & 6) is spent teaching and reinforcing basic reading, writing, math, history, science, and geography skills. Step II (grades 7 & 8) is spent preparing students for college preparatory high school by teaching algebra, a foreign language, science labs, classic literature, and other subjects.

Students stay at KIPP Bay Academy for grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. The school will always remain small, never growing larger than 350 students. The school is located in the Western Addition. However, we welcome students from all neighborhoods of San Francisco. We are accepting applications from students currently in Grade 4.

Tech Company Donates to Daniel Webster Elementary School

Last month, Sifteo, a Dogpatch start up company donated 25 sets of its interactive Sifteo cubes to Daniel Webster Elementary School.  The computers are being used by first graders to help with phonemic awareness, and as part of afterschool vocabulary and spelling programs.  Sifteo is making monthly visits to the after-school program to evaluate how well the Cubes are working, and solicit student ideas about new game designs.

Much has been written about the upcoming changes to the SF school assignment system... and one of the new aspects is supposed to be better verification that the address you provide for your student is actually the address where the student lives. ABC 7 had a story last night about a bunch of cases of address fraud that have been recently found in the district, with the district only putting in a minimal amount
