Glen Park School is located in the heart of Glen Park a unique village-like community in the cosmopolitan city of San Francisco. Built in 1935, this WPA construction product, sits on sound and solid rock surrounded the quaint shops of Glen Park and the charming streets of one of the cityÕs oldest and safest neighborhoods. The school is within statewide standards, and differentiated instruction that meets every studentÕs needs. The schoolÕs theme of ÔLanguage Arts Through the ArtsÕ is evident as one walks through the colorful hallways, past classes of students actively engaged in learning. Another testament to the level of creativity shared among Glen ParkÕs staff and students is the weekly cluster classes. Students clusters provide various inter-cultural and inter-disciplinary activities with resource teachers and artists-in-residence. Teachers clusters focus on analysis of student work.

Such commitment to school spirit can also be seen in the clean and inviting interior and the buildingÕs exterior. The butterfly flower garden and the trees lovely planted in a collaboration with Friends of the Urban Forest. Glen Park School is within walking distance to Glen Canyon Park and the Sunnyside Conservatory, providing additional opportunities for community outreach and interaction.

All in all, Glen Park School is a terrific place to learn, grow, prosper and contribute.

Tech Company Donates to Daniel Webster Elementary School

Last month, Sifteo, a Dogpatch start up company donated 25 sets of its interactive Sifteo cubes to Daniel Webster Elementary School.  The computers are being used by first graders to help with phonemic awareness, and as part of afterschool vocabulary and spelling programs.  Sifteo is making monthly visits to the after-school program to evaluate how well the Cubes are working, and solicit student ideas about new game designs.

Much has been written about the upcoming changes to the SF school assignment system... and one of the new aspects is supposed to be better verification that the address you provide for your student is actually the address where the student lives. ABC 7 had a story last night about a bunch of cases of address fraud that have been recently found in the district, with the district only putting in a minimal amount
