Garfield is a culturally diverse K-5 school with 7 general education, 4 English Plus (Chinese Bilingual) and ÔHigh Functioning Aspergers SyndromeÕ Classes. We provide a rigorous academic program with a strong literacy focus, integrating all subject areas including technology. Our education program offers a century.

Garfield SchoolÕs ÒSuccess For AllÓ reading program has produced remarkable results in our studentsÕ achievement. This program provides 75 minutes of school-wide leveled reading instruction daily, which is supported by continual on-site staff development as well as a Family Support component. In addition to the SFA reading program, we place heavy emphasis on writing and oral communication throughout the instructional day to provide students with a well-balanced literacy development curriculum.

All our classroom computers have Internet access. Computers are used as supplementary tools in our daily instruction to reinforce basic skills and to enhance studentsÕ general knowledge and interests. Our ÒMighty DragonÓ (school mascot) program which rewards acts of kindness and positive character traits helps cultivate civic-mindedness and personal responsibility among students. This in turn fosters a safe nurturing environment that is highly conducive to learning. GarfieldÕs top notch faculty is thoughtfully selected and consists of highly committed teachers who share the common vision of academic and social excellence.
