Fairmount views all members of the community as teachers and learners, offering many programs supporting learning for families as well as students. Parents may select FairmountÕs English-Spanish Two-Way Immersion Program, which develops fluency in both languages for English Language Learners and English-proficient students. Support for families skills in real-life situations. Teachers integrate the arts and technology into all aspects of the curriculum. Graduate students from the University of California-Berkeley work with FairmountÕs staff to develop writing and mathematics. San Francisco City College provides science curriculum training for teachers and hands-on activities for students at its Mission Science Center near Fairmount.

SFUSD New School Assignment Plan Decided

After years of debate, lawsuits and numerous community meetings, the San Francisco Unified School District voted unanimously on a new school assignment system Tuesday night. This so-called hybrid plan is a compromise between the wishes of parents who want to attend neighborhood schools and legal demands to maintain diversity.
