The staff includes experienced teachers and assistant teachers, as well as trained specialists including a speech therapist, art and physical education teachers, and a team of mental health counselors. The student/teacher ratio at Erikson is 4:1, ensuring that each child has access to one-on-one instruction.
The individualized, structured academic program emphasizes reading, language arts, and mathematics. Social studies, science, health, art, physical education, and vocational skills are also stressed. Regular computer access provides programs in all academic areas as well as Internet research. Students of high school age earn credits towards a high school diploma and are able to graduate when ready. Students who are not in therapy outside of school receive individual counseling twice a week during school hours, and all students participate in weekly group therapy.
