Sea Cliff

Neighborhood Overview

Sea Cliff

Sea Cliff is one of the City's true residential districts, and home to some of San Francisco's most striking single family homes. There is no commercial area or nightlife to speak of, affording the neighborhood a quiet, private air that suits its affluent residents just fine. In fact, several big names have opted to call this area home over the years, including actor Sharon Stone, Gap founder Don Fisher and comics Cheech Marin and Robin Williams. With a name that aptly describes its location, Sea Cliff tantalizes home buyers with incredible views of the Pacific, Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate Bridge. It is very near some of our most notable outdoor attractions, including Lincoln Park, which houses both a golf course and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor; and the sprawling Presidio of San Francisco, a National Park offering endless recreational opportunities. Sea Cliff dwellers also enjoy easy access to the Golden Gate Bridge. Bike lanes running along Lake Street lead avid cyclers north across the Bridge into the hills of Marin County. Nearby China Beach is a favorite among locals; this windswept slice of sand offers breathtaking sunset and bridge views. Access Land's End trail from the beach for a truly epic, though only moderately difficult, 3.5 mile hike along San Francisco's ruggedly gorgeous coastline. This is a wild side of San Francisco people rarely think about, and it is a treasure. Also nearby is Baker Beach, which is infamously popular with nude sunbathers. When it comes time to shop, dine or enjoy a low key night out, the Clement and California Street business districts are a short drive or lovely walk away.

The SF Inventory is Finally Arriving

Buyers and Realtors have been complaining about the lack of residential inventory in San Francisco since earlier this year. Indeed, it seems like buyers are fully engaged in our single-family home, condo and multi-unit offerings and have hit the market looking for property all at the same time. That means that for every cool house in a central location, there are 10-15 sets of buyers waiting to pounce.

Buyers Will Pay For "Done," Even in So-So Locations

Despite most San Francisco buyers' firm proclamation at the outset of their house hunt that they won't pay for someone else's renovation, many are doing just that. One trend that doesn't appear to be slowing is that of buyers snatching up fully renovated single-family homes---and paying dearly for them, even if the homes are not in prime locations within a given neighborhood. (Because not everyone can afford a newly renovated home in the heart of Noe Valley, right?)

If You're Into Recycling, You'll Love These Two New Programs

For someone like me who would recycle dryer lint if I could, these two new programs may appeal to your inner green as much as they did mine.
