Fisherman's Wharf's Main Street Getting a Makeover

Just in time for the 2013 America's Cup, Fisherman's Wharf's Jefferson Street will get a makeover, turning it into a more pedestrian friendly street by widening the sidewalks and narrowing the street. The heart of the tourist area includes the 5 blocks between Powell and Hyde streets.

The Recreation & Park Dept will be hosting a series of community meetings to discuss the future trail restoration improvements to the Bernal Heights Trail. The meetings will be held from 6:00pm-7:30 pm at the Bernal Heights Library community meeting room as follows:

January 25: Community Meeting #1 – Project Kick-off & Information Gathering
February 22: Community Meeting #2 – Design Options
April 4: Community Meeting #3 – Final Trail Plans

San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker Season in Full Swing

For the past 9+ years, I've volunteered for the San Francisco Ballet by working in The Ballet Shop on the mezzanine level. During Nutcracker, which usually starts early December and goes through New Year's, the shop carries wooden nutcrackers of every size, color, and style, and hundreds of different ornaments.

Slowly but surely the area now known as Rincon Hill is developing a residential community, mostly built around the high-rises that went up in the last 5-7 years, like One Rincon Hill and the Infinity Tower buildings. One sure sign of the turn from commercial to residential is the installation of a dog park for its 4-legged residents.

Thanksgivng: Farley's Gives Back

Farley's long-standing tradition of donating its tips to the San Francisco Food Bank, will continue on Thanksgiving Day.   The Food Bank provides food to more than 400 local nonprofit groups.  Farley's will be open from 7:30 am to 2 pm on Thanksgiving, so stop by for a cup of joe and tip generously.  Farley's is located at 1315 18th Street.
