San Francisco, CA – October 17, 2011 – Pete Gallegos, Zephyr REALTOR® at the West Portal Office, has found a way to help others through volunteering with the Maisin Scholars Program, which assists students in overcoming financial obstacles in their pursuit of higher education. Founded in 2000, the program offers 75 scholarships annually to students graduating in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) who have financial need and the ambition to continue their education.

Much has been written about the upcoming changes to the SF school assignment system... and one of the new aspects is supposed to be better verification that the address you provide for your student is actually the address where the student lives. ABC 7 had a story last night about a bunch of cases of address fraud that have been recently found in the district, with the district only putting in a minimal amount

After years of debate, lawsuits and numerous community meetings, the San Francisco Unified School District voted unanimously on a new school assignment system Tuesday night. This so-called hybrid plan is a compromise between the wishes of parents who want to attend neighborhood schools and legal demands to maintain diversity.
