It has been a quiet six months for the San Francisco loft market, with only 81 sales since mid-April – down from 220 the same time last year. A vast majority of the action in the loft market has centered around District 9.

The condos at One Hawthorne in San Francisco were released for sale several months ago, and I toured the building at the time it opened. Described in their marketing as offering “hand-selected materials and thoughtfully edited details meet the eye at every level, beginning with the hewn wood and stone surfaces of the lobby and rising through the warm, artful interiors of each home,” I would have

Last week, the San Francisco Planning Commission rejected a plan to demolish the First Saint John’s Methodist church at 1601 Larkin and build a 27-unit condominium project designed by local architect, Stanley Saitowitz. Earlier this year, the Board of Supervisors rejected a plan approved by the Planning Commission to build a high-rise condominium tower at 555 Washington Street.
