The 2013 America’s Cup has recently revealed the race courses that will force tight, close and aggressive racing, making for spectacular competition. The first ships and crew will arrive at the end of the summer to prepare for the event.

In anticipation of the large crowds, rental prices in SOMA, South Beach, and Mission Bay neighborhoods are shooting up fast.

Rincon Hill Gets a New Dog Park

Slowly but surely the area now known as Rincon Hill is developing a residential community, mostly built around the high-rises that went up in the last 5-7 years, like One Rincon Hill and the Infinity Tower buildings. One sure sign of the turn from commercial to residential is the installation of a dog park for its 4-legged residents.

love finding surprises around the city that helps to explain its history. Along with a friend for a walk around the ball park and the Embarcadero, I came upon this plaque embedded in the sidewalk on King St. I knew that the area was landfill but I didn't know how far back it was created. I remember reading accounts of the landfill around the Marina created from the debris from the 1906 earthquake. This might have been a part of that plan, although it began the year before.

Ah, the agonies of aging. Or, for those of you not feeling so charitable, the agonies of what some would describe as quick-and-questionable construction. Either way, as I was driving by 88 King St - The Towers at Embarcadero South yesterday I noticed that there was a lot activity on the exterior of the building, more cranes, pulleys, and workers than you would expect for a simple window wash!

It has been a quiet six months for the San Francisco loft market, with only 81 sales since mid-April – down from 220 the same time last year. A vast majority of the action in the loft market has centered around District 9.

There were 123 Condo/TIC/Loft/Coop sales last year in South Beach. We witnessed a shift in the median sales price from $809,500 to $663,000, which translates to a 18.09% decrease over the prior year. The time necessary to sell a property is also critical. For 2009, the average number of days on market was 98 days for Condo/TIC/Loft/Coop sales, but in 2008, it took an average of 70.
