While Bernal Heights is one of the most desired neighborhoods to purchase a single family home, it’s not known for its abundance of condo sales.
Over the past four years (2007-2010), Bernal has averaged just over 23 condominium sales per year, 2009 being the highest annual total at 26.

Wednesday night was the opening night of the 8th annual Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema Festival, and what a festive event it turned out to be. The event was held at the Old Clam House on Bayshore Ave, which has been a staple of Bernal resident’s looking for good food and a lively watering hole since 1861.

The Ceasar Chavez/101 interchange isn’t exactly a paragon of modern architectural tastes. In fact, community planning is already underway to detangle that section of freeway, better know as “the Hairball.” Nevertheless, the folks at Bernalwood have assembled a gallery of beautiful long-exposure nighttime shots.

It used to be that most buyers would meet with their agent and communicate that they'd be ready, willing and able to take on a fixer so they wouldn't pay for someone else's renovation. This trend is declining, if the activity over at 3719 Folsom Street in Bernal Heights has any say in the matter.
Sold only a few months ago in September 2010 as a fixer in a cash sale for $590,000, the property is back on the market for $895,000 and fully renovated.
