The San Francisco Metropolitan Transit Authority is doing major construction work at both ends of West Portal Avenue which is making it really difficult to get into and out of the West Portal shopping area. St. Francis Circle is completely torn up and is being rerouted, Muni tracks are torn up so there is no through transportation and traffic is being directed around our business area. We want people to know we are still here; we have asked SFMTA to put up banners on the major streets bordering West Portal letting people know this, but so far to no avail.
We have asked for a timeline when the work would be finished, but a realistic answer has not been given to us. There is a bright side for our patrons: right now there is plenty of street parking, merchants are willing to negotiate for their services and since the Meter Persons are all busy directing traffic at both ends of our street, there's less chance of getting a ticket...
