New Orleans has Mardi Gras. Rio has Carnivale. San Francisco has PRIDE, one of the largest, most eagerly anticipated, and best attended public celebrations worldwide – one that welcomes all kinds of people, whether or not they are members of the LGBT community.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 23-24, over one million people will convene for this mostly free event ($5 donation requested at gates) with special attractions for everyone on earth; in fact, Global Equality is the PRIDE theme this year.

The Celebration blasts off at noon on Saturday at the Civic Center Plaza main stage with super-talented viral-video-duo Karmin, who just rocketed to the top of the pop charts. Then stand-up-comic, Sarah Silverman, has us rolling in the aisles. Crowd-favorite, Cheer SF, brings it on, followed by DJ’s Robbie Martin, Frank Wild, Carmin Wong, Russ Rich, and Christopher B who pump up the volume until the sun goes down.

Don’t stay out too late because the prismatic PRIDE Parade begins at Market and Beale on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., ending up at Market and 8th. Official and unofficial events happen all week prior to the celebration and parade.

PRIDE passes and VIP tickets to official events available for purchase. Please visit sfpride.org for more details.
