Want a home-cooked meal without having to cook it yourself? San Francisco, being the foodie palace it is, has another alternative to restaurant food. A new website, Gobble.com, offers home-cooked meals by local chefs that can be delivered or picked up.
When you first enter the site, you're immediately asked to sign up. You pick whether you want lunch or dinner and the day of the week you want to pick it up or have it delivered ($10 delivery fee). There are usually 3 - 4 selections of meals from which to choose. On the day I signed up, there was a wonderful variety of choices, including a vegetarian option, with clear, colorful pictures of the meals. The pick up location for the San Francisco meals is 10 South Park. Lunches can be picked up from 11:40-12:40 and dinners from 6-7pm. The prices range from $9 for a succotash & chili polenta to $27 for miso salmon with quinoa.
There are blurbs about the chefs and their cooking style, who are required to have a permit and access to a commercial kitchen.
