San Francisco, CA – May 8, 2013 – San Francisco Landmark #48, the residence at 294 Page Street, will be open for a twilight tour on Thursday, May 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. Victorian Specialist Bonnie Spindler is hosting this special event, which includes champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Visitors will be invited to enjoy watching the City lights come up from the rear deck.

That's the average interest rate on a 15-year fixed mortgage last week, a record low, according to Freddie Mac. The rate for a 30-year mortgage fell to 3.4 percent, slightly above the low of 3.31 percent in November. Buyers competing for a tight supply of homes for sale are pushing up prices, while low mortgages rates fuel demand.

Garden Workday at Jackson Park

On Saturday, April 27th, from 1-4 PM, there will be a community workday in Jackson Park.  Projects include: light trenching work, laying down pathways and borders, flipping compost, succulent planting along the fences, and painting signs.  All ages are welcome, snacks will be provided.  Bring water bottle, hat and gloves.  Meet under the large olive tree at the park's southwest corner.  Learning Garden, Jackson Park Playground.  Mariposa at Carolina.

135th Cable Car Anniversary

Today marks the 135th anniversary of the first San Francisco cable car line that was constructed along California Street.  Originally, this line stretched 1.7 miles from California at Kearny Street, up and over Nobb Hill.
