Lions and tigers…
and penguins? OH MY! School is out, and there is no better time to visit the San Francisco Zoo than right now because four baby penguins just hatched! Magellanic-penguin Mom & Pop, Bruno and Rizzo, will let you have a look, but only through the end of June, when the hatchlings will head to fish school, where there they will learn how to swim like the big birds. Check out this YouTube video for a sneak peak at their happy feet. If you miss the chicks, catch the other animals on free-admission day, during July 4th weekend. For kids who would like an up-close-and-personal look at the beastly attractions all week long, the zoo offers summer camp for children from four years old to seventh-grade-age. For reservations, please visit
the web site or call (415) 753-8135.
