There is a breath of fresh air blowing through the Tenderloin and SoMA, thanks to San Francisco District 6 Supervisor, Jane Kim. Elected in September, 2011, her first year in office has yielded healthy changes already, including the installation of a sorely needed new police substation on 6th Street. How happy are the residents of the area? Pretty darn happy! Not only that, this humanitarian new Supe spent the night in a homeless shelter to understand first-hand what it feels like to have no place else to go. Her twelve overnight hours were filled with messages of hope and cries of sadness, a very eye-opening and sensitizing experience. How many supervisors, or any city officials for that matter, can say that? Most recently Kim was elected unanimously by all of her peers to chair the board of the Transbay Joint Powers Authority, or TJPA, which is the organization that manages the installation of the new transit lines connecting the nearly complete Union Station hub with north and southbound lines and linking with Caltrain. It’s a huge project, but SuperJane is the man for the job. And she does all of this in stiletto heels, looking fabulous the whole time. Keep it up Supervisor Kim. We approve this message!
