How appropriate that the black-and-orange San Francisco Giants had their hero parade on Halloween?
Spooky! After shutting out the Detroit Tigers in four straight games, including a Cinderella-story pitching achievement in game No. 1 by Giants pitcher Barry Zito, the ticker tape and confetti were raining from the skies today. After barely qualifying for the playoffs in the first place, who would have believed that this come-from-behind, underdog team would spank the Tigers so verrrrrrrry badly? For residents of the city that rebuilt itself after the 1906 earthquake, one of the worst disasters ever to hit an American city, it really is no surprise. The heart of the average San Franciscan is as big as all outdoors. And that, my friends, is why our favorite sons are called THE GIANTS!
