Just in time for the 2013 America's Cup, Fisherman's Wharf's Jefferson Street will get a makeover, turning it into a more pedestrian friendly street by widening the sidewalks and narrowing the street. The heart of the tourist area includes the 5 blocks between Powell and Hyde streets. The work is slated to start in October with the two blocks from Jones to Hyde at Aquatic Park. The remaining 3 blocks are not yet funded and require another $7.5M. Me thinks that for the America's Cup, the city will find the money somehow.
