Starting this spring and completed by the summer of 2012,
Cesar Chavez, which borders The Mission to the north and Bernal Heights to the south,
will have a major makeover. The street will be narrowed from 6 to 4 lanes, bike
lanes (of course) will be added, wider, landscaped medians, 300 trees, two
pedestrian plazas, planters, upgraded sewers, and repaving are all a part of
the
project. Expect delays while under construction but the finished product
will be more inviting and safer for cars, bikes, and pedestrians.
