In earlier posts, I wrote about the iPhone app available for SFPark, which "seeks to provide drivers with real-time information on what metered parking spots are open in several neighborhoods around the city, as well as spots in 13 city-owned parking garages."

Another update on SF Park (see earlier posts number one and number two). You can now find a spot in the public garage by texting the garage code. What you get back is the garage's address and the number of spaces available. Sounds like a nice plan but a bit complicated, if not dangerous. Please pull over when you try this!

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the launch of SFPark, San Francisco's experiment with time-based meter rates. Now there's an iPhone app (Android app will follow in a few weeks) that will help you to find those open spots.

SFPark, San Francisco's experiment with time-based meter rates launched this week. The first roll-out is in the Marina, soon to be followed by the Civic Center, Hayes Valley, the Financial District, SoMa, Fisherman's Wharf, the Mission, and the Fillmore district. The idea is to increase parking fees when demand is high and reduce them when spaces are available so that drivers do not have to circle the block endlessly in the hopes of nabbing a parking space.

San Francisco isn't known for being an easy parking city. Though plenty of neighborhoods don't have parking challenges, plenty still do---particularly those with popular retail areas. Combine that factor with the reality that many homes in the city were constructed before automobiles existed, and you have a bit of a conundrum.
Enter a new company that intends to help city drivers find parking spaces. Park

Double parking along Dolores Street on Sundays has always been "allowed," although this is denied by the SF Police and parking and traffic departments. Drivers who have taken advantage of this beware, this article could put an end to the practice: Parking Leeway for Churchgoers

Trying to figure out if a condo at the Palms has deeded or leased parking? It's a great question! The larger units were sold with deeded parking, smaller units with leased parking. However, some additional spots were available and the original buyers may have purchased "deeded" parking which now transfers with the unit.
